New Delhi, Oct. 3 Eli Lilly has launched the registered diabetic injection Byetta (exenatide injection) in the country. The drug treats patients with type 2 diabetes in combination with two common oral diabetes medications — metformin or sulphonylureas.

“We are delighted to launch Byetta, a novel approach to treating type 2 diabetes. Exenatide is the first in a new class of anti-diabetic medicines known as incretin mimetics and is the first FDA-approved agent of this category,” said Mr Sandeep Gupta, CMD, Lilly India, in a statement from the company.
