Top-level changes in UB Group

Bangalore, Oct. 3 The UB Group has announced a series of changes in key management positions across its several group companies.

Mr Ashwin Malik, 49, who was the chief operations officer of the northern regional profit centre has been named as Chief Executive of Whyte & Mackay Ltd. He has been with the UB Group for 19 years and will relocate to Glasgow, Scotland to manage the largest ever acquisition of the group.

“As the UB Group marches forward from strength to strength, increasing its leadership position in its core businesses and creating extraordinary stakeholder value, I felt it necessary to strengthen the management team going forward in our beverage alcohol companies. I am proud of the fact that we have been able to retain and groom a robust second line management cadre that is now ready to move forward into leadership positions.

“These outstanding professionals who have earned their promotions will lead the UB Group’s core beverage alcohol business into the next decade and will continually improve operating performance and enhance stakeholder value,” the UB Group Chairman, Mr Vijay Mallya, said in a statement.

Mr Ashok Capoor, 54, will move to Bangalore as Deputy President of United Spirits Ltd. Mr Capoor who has been with the UB Group for 15 years was in charge of the western regional profit centre in his current assignment. In his new role as deputy president, he will be in charge of all five regional profit centres as well as the CSD business of the group.

Mr Shekhar Ramamurthy, 46, who has been with the UB Group for 18 years, has been promoted to the post of Deputy President of United Breweries and in his new role, will look after operations in addition to overseeing sales and marketing. Mr A. Harish Bhat, 54, who has been with the UB Group for 17 years, has been promoted to the position of Deputy President & Group Treasurer. He played a key role in the recent large acquisitions and investments of the UB Group.

Mr P.A. Murali, 49, has been promoted to the position of Deputy President - Finance & Administration of United Spirits Ltd. He has managed the merger of various Group companies into United Spirits and executed the recent acquisitions of Whyte & Mackay and Liquidity Inc. Mr N.R. Rajsekher, 51, currently Chief Operating Officer of the Andhra Pradesh regional profit centre, has been promoted as Chief Operating Officer of the Western regional profit centre of United Spirits.

Mr P.S. Gill, 45, currently with United National Breweries, South Africa, has been appointed chief operations officer of the northern regional profit centre, replacing Mr Malik. Mr K. Laxmi Narasimhan, 37, currently divisional Vice-President and head of sales operations in the southern region has been promoted as acting chief operating officer of the Andhra Pradesh regional profit centre in Hyderabad.
