SAIL posts 18% growth in saleable steel in Sept

New Delhi, Oct 3 Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has recorded the best-ever performance in September by producing 1.1 million tonnes (mt) of saleable steel, a growth of 18 per cent over September 2006.

A release from the company has said that the capacity utilisation of the various plants went up to 120 per cent in September. “During the second quarter of the current financial year the production of saleable steel increase 10 per cent to 3.25 mt over the corresponding period last year,” the release added.

The captive mines of SAIL produced 6.07 mt of iron ore and met the total requirement for production of hot metal by plants.
