Spot rubber drops on buyer resistance

Aravindan

Kottayam, Oct. 3 Physical rubber prices retreated marginally on buyer resistance. RSS 4 moved down to Rs 90.50 from Rs 91 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi. Though the overseas indices managed to finish in green, lack of strength observed in the overall market mood failed to cheer up the domestic sentiments. The changing climatic conditions also had its influence over the price fluctuations though the supplies were still near the bottom lines.

Futures weak

The rubber futures also ruled weak on NMCE. The October contract moved down to Rs 90.52 (91.10), November to Rs 86.65 (87.04), December to Rs 86.31 (86.91) and January contract to Rs 87.50 (87.92) per kg for RSS 4. The volumes totalled 1,196 (1,381) tonnes and open interest 3,701 (3,643) tonnes. Meanwhile the October contract slipped to Rs 89.75 (90.51) a kg on MCX. Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 90.50 (91); RSS-5: 87.50 (88); ungraded: 85.50 (86); ISNR 20: 86.50 (87) and latex 60 per cent: 62.60 (62.60).
