Rural Development Marketing - Rural Marketing 2-day rural biz meet from Oct 8 Our Bureau New Delhi, Oct 3 The absence of an integrated business relationship with the rural market, reckoned at $500 billion in the next 10 years, is costing the economy two per cent additional GDP growth annually, according to the industry chamber, FICCI. The chamber has suggested that development of rural kiosks should be considered as part of the Bharat Nirman Programme and budget allocations could be used to promote public private partnership projects. While the Government is making all-out efforts to make the growth process inclusive with initiatives such as the Bharat Nirman Programme and other national rural-oriented schemes, the monumental task of bring the rural poor into the mainstream of development process will remain a pipedream unless the business community is encouraged to channelise investment flows to rural India. With these imperatives in view, FICCI, with support from a host of Ministries, is organising a two-day India Rural Business Summit on October 8. The summit will turn the spotlight on sharing success stories and promoting rural enterprises, expanding self employment opportunities, creating linkages between the rural and the organised sector, identifying new cutting edge technologies and enhancing capacity building and skill development at the grass roots.
