Idol making: Durga Puja is around the corner. Idol-makers are busy creating images of the goddess which will soon flood Kolkata. The picture shows finishing touches being given recently to the idol of the Shovabazar Rajbari Puja in the city on Tuesday. Raja Nabakrishna Deb (1733-1797), founder of the Shovabazar Raj family, began the Durga Puja at the then newly constructed Rajbari in 1757. Robert Clive is said to have visited the Rajbari on the occasion of the Puja. —
