New method for procuring rubber latex mooted

Aravindan

Kottayam, Oct. 5 The tendency for unhealthy competition in procuring rubber latex is the reason for losses incurred by rubber growers and institutions. This was the outcome of a joint meeting of the agencies procuring rubber latex and companies under the Rubber Board convened by Mr Sajen Peter, Chairman, Rubber Board. Therefore the representatives of the Rubber Board companies, cooperative societies, and private institutions need to pay for latex only on the price to be decided based on a common standard. Considering the processing expenses, the industry could survive only if it procures latex at a price less than Rs 3 of the price of 4th grade rubber. A monitoring committee has also been entrusted to review the action every month.
