ESPN, Star Cricket score on Twenty20 finals

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Oct. 5 The Twenty20 World Cup finals grabbed two thirds or 66.5 per cent of all channel share for the two official broadcasters — ESPN and Star Cricket.

An India-Pakistan match always draws large audiences. Being the finals and a cliff-hanger at that, the match touched a high of 28.8 TVR in television rating points.

Female audiences

According to the broadcasters, the match also has the distinction of becoming the year’s most watched programme amongst female audiences.

TAM Media Research’s ratings for a target group cable and satellite homes, of females above the age of 15, from Socio-Economic class ABC, from an all-India sample scored 16.8 TVR during the match.

“The in-house ratings are incredible but they do not take into account all out-of-home viewership that the finale generated. Hotels, restaurants, offices and special screenings at public places were all showcasing only one thing – India playing Pakistan at the Wanderers in Johannesburg,” Mr R.C. Venkateish, Managing Director, ESPN Software India, said in a statement.

The finals managed an average viewership rating of 21.4 TVR.
