Chennai, Oct. 6

The Tamil Nadu Government will speed up all the infrastructure projects to promote tourism in the State in a big way. “The master plan is ready to find the gaps in tourism infrastructure and to fill them up in the quickest possible time,” said the State Chief Secretary, Mr L.K. Tripathy.

He addressed the audience on the inaugural day of the 56th Convention & Exhibition - Indian Travel Congress, organised here on Friday by the Travel Agents Association of India.

Facilities

He said the Government is keen on developing world-class facilities to keep pace with the growing tourism industry in the State. The Government will facilitate hoteliers to come up with good projects for those areas.

Delivering the key note address on the occasion, Mr R. Seshasayee, Managing Director, Ashok Leyland Ltd, stressed on the need to promise tourists just what the country can deliver. Attention must also be paid to issues such as shortage of tourism products, including airports, good hotel rooms, drinking water and good sanitation facilities.
