Talent crunch at Railways

The Railways seem to be suffering from an acute dearth of talents. How else can one explain the unique situation of the General Manager of one Zonal Railway looking after the jobs of three others? The General Manager of Eastern Railway is now having additional charge of the general managers of Metro Rail, Kolkata, South Eastern Railway — also having its headquarter in Kolkata — and Northeast Frontier Railway, Maligaon near Guwahati. The Metro Rail has remained headless for the past couple of months while the general manager of South Eastern Railway has just retired. The general manager of Northeast Frontier Railway is temporarily absent, it is learnt.
