A view of the Idukki hydroelectric project reservoir in Kerala from Calvary Mount. Following prolonged rainfall, the water level shot up to a record 2,401 feet this year. Twice before, in 1981 and 1992, the water level had gone up to 2,400 ft, forcing the Kerala State Electricity Board to release the excess water.
