Our Correspondent Madurai, Oct. 7 Satyam Computer Services will soon be opening its development centre in Madurai. “We have applied for 50 acres under ELCOT scheme proposed in the university land on Theni road. The approval of the allotment from the Cabinet came last week. The documentation is under process. As soon as the Government announces the approval, we would go ahead with the work,” said Mr Subbu D. Subramanian, Director and senior Vice-President, Manufacturing and Automobile Business Group, while speaking to Business Line here. The proposed campus would initially accommodate 5,000 and would be developed to 10,000-seater over a three-year period. “While we are committed to the project, further details on proposed investments etc. can be announced only after the formal announcement from the Government comes,” he said. digital stationAsked about the digital station developed recently by the company for the automotive sector, he said the initiative was to showcase the Indian capability to the world. Mr Subramanian, was in the city to address on ‘India-A Global IT Opportunity’ at an event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, Madurai Zone. He said that as a CII initiative, a proposal to establish an autonomous IT academy in Tamil Nadu under the public-private partnership funding has been made to the Chief Minister. The matter is in its final stages and a meeting with the Chief Minister is awaited next week.
