Tanla, O2 to offer PayForIt services in UK

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Oct. 8 Tanla Mobile today announced it has entered into an agreement with O2 to offer commercial WAP (wireless application protocol) services under PayForIt mobile billing services platform in the UK.

PayForIt is a cross operator initiative that has been created as a future driving force behind making mobile commerce a reality for consumers in the UK, and other content and services providers.

This enables a ‘click to buy’ experience similar to a purchase consumers make on a mobile operator portal or ‘traditional’ Internet shopping.

The Director of Tanla Mobile, Mr Gautam Sabharwal, in a statement said: “PayForIt will be an important turning point for the mobile industry. There has been much debate and action focused on improving mobile billing. The Internet we are seeing from customers supports this and the demand for mobile services has never been greater.”

With this, it would be possible to provide a single payment service and thereby help kick up mCommerce. This also helps digital content providers in monetising mobile search engine.
