Hyderabad set for Military World Games

Hyderabad, Oct. 8 The State Capital will host the fourth Military World Games from October 14.

The eight-day sports extravaganza is being conducted by the International Military Sports Council (CISM). Over 5,100 athletes from 100 countries will take part in the event, held every four years.

Events in 13 sports disciplines will be held both in men and women categories. The ties will be held at multiple centres in the city, including Artillery Centre, University of Hyderabad, Lal Bahadur Stadium, and Yusufguda Stadium.

Tie-up with Apollo

In order to offer medicare to the participants, Army Medical Services, in association with Apollo Group of Hospitals, has created a network of healthcare facilities.

This included 5 first-aid centres, polyclinics with physiotherapy services, secondary medical care offering services in basic specialities at military hospitals in Golconda and Secunderabad and tertiary care services at various Apollo group hospitals in the twin cities.

“A complete disaster management plan has been developed and four quick reaction medical teams have been formed,” a press release from the Games secretariat said.
