‘Jatropha is a viable energy option’

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct. 9 The Minister for Electricity, Mr A. K. Balan, has said that jatropha cultivation and generation of biodiesel will go some way to deal effectively with the looming crisis on the energy front.

The Minister said this while inaugurating a seminar here on ‘Jatropha cultivation and biodiesel’ organised by the Chakkala Community Association of India. It made sense to try out jatropha cultivation out in whatever waste land available. Jatropha made sense when viewed from its pollution-neutral characteristics too, he said.
