Visakhapatnam, Oct. 9

Seventeen employees of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant received Viswakarma awards in New Delhi earlier this week from the Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Oscar Fernandes, according to a press release issued here on Tuesday. They were given the awards for innovative suggestions in the operation of the blast furnaces, electro technical laboratories, steel melting shop and structural mills. Mr Y. Manohar, Director (Personnel), congratulated the employees. The press release says that 221 applications were received from different industries across the country for the 28 awards. - Our Bureau
