Shipping IWAI to acquire 6 cutter dredging units Our Bureau New Delhi, Oct. 9 The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) will acquire six cutter suction dredging units along with workboats and accommodation boats for National Waterway No. 1 and National Waterway No. 2 at an estimated cost of Rs 113.45 crore. While approving the proposal, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) said that the delivery of all the cutter suction dredging units along with the workboats and accommodation boats will be received within 22 months from the date of award of contract to shipbuilders. The upgradation and modernisation of iron ore handling facilities at the outer harbour of Visakhapatnam Port also got the nod from the CCEA. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 185.15 core. The CCEA also gave its approval to the continuation of the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutkaran Yojana (RGGVY) in the XI Plan. More Stories on : Shipping
