Chennai, Oct. 9 Ebm-Nadi International Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between the Kamdar family (promoter of Nadi Fans Co) and ebm-papst group of Germany, inaugurated its new production line and a warehouse in Chennai on Tuesday.

The 49:51 Indo-German joint venture company, which is into manufacturing of equipment cooling fans, has invested Rs 5.6 crore in the new production and the warehousing facility. It has also drawn up plans to expand its capacity further in the next two years at an investment of Rs 28 crore.

The company, currently, produces 600 axial fans a day in its facility, and the new line will add another 200 radial fans a day, said Mr J.B. Kamdar, Managing Director. Talking about the warehouse, he said it can store up to 1,000 pallets and is equipped with RFID inventory control system. “The main idea is to meet the requirements of our customers at a short notice.”

Ebm-Nadi with its range of around 2,000 models caters to telecom base stations, server cooling, automotive, electronics, railways, heat exchangers, clean room equipment and other industry requirements.

With almost 50 per cent share of the Rs 90-crore market, it registered a topline of Rs 42 crore in the year 2006-07, “and we hope to take it to Rs 85 crore in the current fiscal”, said Mr Kamdar. The company has posted a revenue of Rs 55 crore for the April-September period, he added.

Reliance order

According to Mr Kamdar, Reliance Telecom has ordered 5,000 fans to be installed in its telecom towers. In an experiment in May this year, ebm-Nadi realised that these fans can effectively replace air-conditioners that are used to reduce the temperature inside the shelter (under each tower) where all electronic equipment are kept. So, during night hours, when the external temperature is not as high as in the day, the fan will be switched on instead of the air-conditioner.
