Pune, Oct. 9 Forbes Marshall, a player in process efficiency and energy conservation, on Tuesday announced a joint venture with Codel Monitoring System of the UK, specialising in online gas and dust monitoring systems.

Mr Farhad Forbes, Director, Forbes Marshall Codel, and Mr David Coe, Managing Director, Codel International, said the products would now be manufactured at the Pune facility in MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation).

Forbes Marshall has three facilities, two in Pune (Kasarwadi and MIDC) and the other in Hyderabad.

He said the facility at MIDC is being expanded to include 30,000 sq ft of area and would manufacture products of both Codel and Forbes Marshall.

The investment is around Rs 8 crore and the expanded facility is expected to go on stream by next fiscal. He said about 400 analysers and monitors would be manufactured here.

Codel primarily has two products, online dust monitors and online gas analysers for sulphur dioxide, nitrous oxides and carbon monoxide.

These products are in situ analysers (non-sampling type). It has 12 distinct products covering different applications.

Mr Farhad said the analysers find applications in large combustion process and in segments such as power, cement, steel and petrochemicals.

The company is targeting 400 analysers in the domestic market, which could increase to around 700 next year. Mr David said it would be transferring the manufacturing of key products to the Pune plant and this included analysers for measuring dust and various gases.

Mr Farhad said currently there were no exports of Codel products from India, but the company was looking at 15 per cent initially. It would be targeted at China, West Asia and the African markets.
