Adlabs Films: Betting on new ventures

Adlabs Films has been one of the star performers of the market for quite some time. The stock on Tuesday gained 3.45 per cent at Rs 490.75 while week-on-week it reported a gain of 7.57 per cent and month-on-month 11.46 per cent.

Apart from Reliance-group tag, the stock has been lapped up by select investors, on reports that the company has joined hands with Kamal Hassan for their first film production in Tamil. Market sources say that the corporate house is planning to launch their first venture in Chennai soon. They added that they have signed an agreement with Kamal to act in two films — one of those would be written and directed by Kamal himself and the other would be directed by a leading director in Kollywood. Recently, the company had produced Kreedam jointly with K. Balaji’s son. But the film didn’t turn out to be profitable as expected, following which the stock price also took a minor dip. The company has now decided to go solo. Reports are also doing the rounds that Adlabs Films approached leading Tamil stars — Vijay and Vishal — to act in their next ventures. Adlabs is also busy producing a Telugu film with leading star Nagarjuna.
