Letters Sugarcane output While the Maharashtra and Karnataka State Governments talk much about promoting the harvest and crushing of a record sugarcane crop the States’ production of sugar has fallen, as reported in “Both States slow down in sugarcane output” (Business Line, October 5). This is a matter of concern. The reason may be simple — that productivity has not increased and even from the yield harvested, crushing percentage may have fallen.
