Letters Investors’ frustration I enjoyed reading “From optimism to frustration” (Business Line, October 8). The lack of accountability and indifference by the government stems from the deficient spirit of “citizenship” among the Indian people, including missing allegiance to the State, apathy toward fellow beings, and a lack of understanding of civil rights and responsibilities. Sadly, the “movers” and “shakers” are engrossed in themselves. And the change-agents — who have become bitter and cynical — prefer to remain silent. “Incredible India” was the campaign poster theme that screamed all over New York last month. I was aghast when I looked up the nuances of the word “incredible”, which are: absurd, far-fetched, barely credible, implausible, questionable, doubtful, inconceivable! That, many of us will agree, is what India has become. It is sad that, at the time Indian Ministers and babus were endorsing the “Incredible India” theme, German investors visiting India were put off by the state of affairs in Kerala. Where is our credibility going, I wonder. Sadasiva Viswanathan Palakkad More Stories on : Letters | Economy
