IBM unveils financing window for small units

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Oct. 10 IBM India has launched a financing window for small and medium-sized businesses as part of its Express Advantage initiative in six cities. It will offer them consulting services in the future, said Mr Ramesh Narasimhan, Director - Global Mid-Market Business, India/South Asia, IBM India, in the city on Wednesday.

The firm’s strategic offer of a single window, called IBM Financing Advantage, is backed by IBM Global Finance, and will offer easy access to leases and loans for hardware, software and services by the company as well as non-IBM hardware.

“IBM has designed 80 offerings for SMEs in India – including products, infrastructure solutions and business software,” he said.

Mid-market packages

The packages have been put together specifically for the mid-market. One such is email, which would typically cost an SME Rs 90 per email id per month. Backup solutions (Tivoli by IBM), servers and vertical-specific software packages are on the platter. The criteria for offering financing to companies will follow standard methods of due diligence. Buyback, recycling and scrap services will also be offered to help manage costs. Consulting services with competitive and “appropriate” pricing will be added at a later stage, he said.
