Nippon Paint launching software to pre-view colours

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Oct. 10 Nippon Paint (India) is all set to shortly launch a software that will help buyers make informed decisions on how their building or even a room would look like.

The software would be installed in dealer sites and enable people to walk in with their building plan and then mix and match with the colour range and get a pre-view of how a coloured wall would potentially look like.

The Regional Sales Manager, Nippon Paint India, Mr Valiveti Nageswara Rao, told Business Line: “this software is something we are introducing for the first time in the country in Hyderabad and expect this to get popular with people.” People can walk into stores with the CD of their house or a flat and experience the power of colours in minutes. In fact, they would be encouraged to try this out and be guided by trained people, he said.

Investing in units

Nippon Paints, which currently procures paints from manufacturing plants in the neighbouring countries, is in the process of investing Rs160 crore for setting up two manufacturing units in India — at Chennai and in Gujarat.

Having a South focus, the company now has about 100 stores and plans to double this number by next year. Once the two plants are ready by 2008, the company expects to gradually roll out products into the west and northern markets, he said.
