‘Central Govt Health Scheme tariff very low’

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Oct. 10 Hospitals that are qualified to treat CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme) have argued that the new tariff is appallingly low.

They warned that unless the tariff was revised upwardly they would not accept cases after October 30.

The corporate hospitals would not be able to render services. The rates are lower than that that of last year’s rates,” Dr Hari Prasad, President of CGHS Empanelled Hospitals’ Association, said.

He pointed out that the tariff had been reduced when maintenance costs were going up. “There is a huge escalation of costs on all fronts and tariff reduction would have serious impact on our institutions,” he said.

Bank guarantee

In a letter to the Union Health Minister, Dr Anbumani Ramdoss, he also mentioned to the move to ask the hospitals to deposit a bank guarantee for Rs 50 lakh to get enlisted under the scheme. “This is a huge burden on the hospitals, particularly those who run more than one hospital offering CGHS services,” he said.

“In anticipation of a positive response, we will continue to serve the CGHS beneficiaries at the current tariff up to October 30,” he said.

Mr Rajender Kumar, General Secretary of the association, said the rates were decreased by 30 per cent.
