Refeel Cartridge firms up national retail rollout plan

Our Bureau

Kolkata, Oct. 10 Refeel Cartridge Engineering, eastern India’s only refilled cartridges manufacturer in the organised sector, has firmed up its national retail rollout plan. The company, which will soon have four exclusive franchisee stores in Kolkata, has firmed up plans to have “at least 100 stores” located across the country by the end of 2008.

According to Mr Alkesh Agarwal, CEO of Refeel Cartridge Engineering, the size of the printer consumable industry in the country was around Rs 1,400 crore. Of this, 10-12 per cent was accounted for refilled cartridges. Globally, refilled cartridges account for around 35 per cent of the total cartridges that are sold.

Mr Agarwal said most cartridge re-fillers were unorganised sector players whose processes were based on manual refilling. The quality of printouts is often an issue faced by them. This has led to a gradual shift in favour of branded cartridges manufactured by players in the organised sector, he said.
