SER's best-ever freight earning

South Eastern Railway achieved its best-ever freight earning in the first half of 2007-08 when it earned Rs 2,475 crore, which is 8.3 per cent more than in the previous year. The growth has taken place in all sectors with a substantial increase being achieved by targeting additional loading in general merchandised goods (15.91 mt ) of a total of 52.23 mt loading, says a press release. The Railway has been able to generate additional earnings of Rs 190 crore compared with last year, with no additional resources. - Our Bureau
