Our Bureau

Chennai, Oct. 11 J Hotels, part of the Chennai-based J Group, is putting up a 160-room, 5-star hotel in Puducherry at an investment of Rs 60 crore. The hotel will be called ‘The Accord Metropolitan’— the company’s hotel brand.

According to Mr Geoff Magee, Chief Executive Officer of the hotel, the company acquired 20 grounds at Rajiv Gandhi Square in Puducherry for the project. “The hotel will be up and running in another 18 months from now,” said Mr Magee.

Besides, the company is also looking to buy-out properties in Dubai, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore and Australia, apart from Bangalore, Coimbatore and Hyderabad back home. “Talks with a couple of properties in Dubai and Singapore are in advanced stages, and we hope to strike a deal soon,” he said

J Hotels, at present, has a five-star business hotel in Chennai. On Wednesday, it opened a new multi-cuisine restaurant, Pergola, at the 15th level.
