Centre considering package for FACT

Our Bureau

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct. 11 A package to help Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) out of its present crisis is under the active consideration of the Centre.

This was conveyed to the Kerala Industries Minister, Mr Elamaram Kareem, by the Union Minister for Fertilisers and Chemicals, Mr Ram Vilas Paswan, in Delhi recently.

According to a statement from the Industries Minister’s office, the Union Minister gave the assurance that the company would not be allowed to come to a standstill.

The revival package was slated to come before the next Secretary-level meeting, Mr Paswan told Mr Kareem.

The Centre had withdrawn the subsidy for sulphur used in the manufacture of Factumphos. It is now expected that the subsidy will be restored along with the subsidy for ammonia sulphate.
