AI inducts first Boeing 777-300 ER

New Delhi, Oct. 12

Air India has inducted the first Boeing 777-300 Extended Range aircraft into its fleet. The aircraft can seat 342 passengers in a three class configuration and has been called Bihar.

The induction of the second aircraft later this month would see the airline deploy these Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft to operate flights on the Delhi-London-New York and Amritsar-Delhi-London-New York sectors.

The aircraft are part of the 68 aircraft ordered by Air India in December 2005. As part of the deal, Air India is to purchase eight B777-200LRs, 15 B777-300ERs, 27 B787-8 and 18 B737-800. ir India has already received 14 of the 68 aircraft ordered by it, including three B777-200LRs, one B777-300ER and 10 B737-800. —
