Hyderabad, Oct. 14

Indian agriculture should be conducted as a commercial enterprise with due importance to value addition, according to Mr Anil Kumar V. Epur, Director, VST Distribution Storage and Leasing Company Ltd.

In his theme address on ‘Towards value-added agriculture: Evolving an agro vision for South India’ organised by the southern council of Confederation of Indian Industry here on Saturday, Mr Kumar said immediate attention should be paid to many issues in the farm sector to make the Indian farmer globally competitive.

Methods such as crop diversification, balanced use of fertilisers and adoption of appropriate technologies should be popularised, he said.
