Coin shortage

The article “Coin shortage: Gaining currency the sweet way” (Business Line, October 12), is a frequent occurrence caused by the value of the metal content of the coins being more than the intrinsic worth. One way to avoid this is to use postage stamps of appropriate value, laminated in transparent plastic of correct thickness. This will be cheaper than importing coins.
