Security Panel formed to advise on data security, protection
Our Bureau New Delhi, Oct. 15 Data Security Council of India (DSCI), the independent self-regulatory body conceptualised by software association Nasscom, has set up a steering committee to advise the Council on issues of data security and protection. The DSCI steering committee would be headed by Mr Jerry Rao, Chairman, MphasiS. The committee comprises 21 members who are drawn from a mix of Indian and MNC companies, security experts from academia and research bodies and government agencies, Mr Shyamal Ghosh, Chairman of DSCI, said. In the first meeting held in September, three sub-groups were set up to focus on issues such as draft model contract templates that can be used by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in outsourcing contracts; understanding the current security status and the interest of various organisations; and business model for DSCI. Nasscom had announced the setting-up of Data Security Council of India in April 2007 to strengthen the regulatory framework and improve India’s attractiveness as an outsourcing destination.
