Social audit at Walayar planned

Our Bureau

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct. 16

The Government is set to conduct a social audit as part of the second phase of the campaign to make Walayar check-post in Palakkad district free of corruption.

The State had launched the campaign some time back. Though corruption can be curtailed to a large extent at Walayar and other check-posts in the district, the Government feels that the efficiency level has to be improved further by bringing in changes in the procedures as also by expanding the facilities at the check-posts.

The State Finance Minister, Dr Thomas Isaac, said here on Tuesday that the second phase of the ‘corruption-free Walayar’ had been envisaged keeping these objectives in view and the proposed social audit would be an exercise to evaluate the progress of the campaign so far.
