Tea Limited demand at Coimbatore tea auctions Our Bureau Coimbatore, Oct. 17 The total offering at the weekly tea auction stood at 5.46 lakh kg with leaf grades accounting for 1.67 lakh kg and the balance of the dust. CIS exporters operated on the orthodox leaf grades with less strength. Internal demand was limited. Nilgiris high growns and brokens were quoting lower by up to Rs 3 a kg. Select invoice of well-made whole leaf remained barely steady, quoting lower by Re 1. Few exportersThere was less demand for the orthodox dust grades. While small quantities were sold at easier levels, the rest suffered withdrawals. Few exporters and internal buyers operated. Good liquoring CTC leaf met with fair demand. Exporters went in for the medium bolder plain grades; quality fannings quoted occasionally dearer but there was less demand including withdrawals of poorer brokens. Internal demand was limited. Popular grades of the CTC dust while ruling barely steady witnessed some withdrawals as well, especially browner teas. There was hardly any export enquiry. Internal buyers and packeteers lent fair support. More Stories on : Tea
