Our Bureau

Mumbai, Oct. 17 Merrill Lynch and Capgemini, a provider of consulting, technology and outsourcing services, have come out with the second Asia-Pacific Wealth Report which looks at the changes in the high net worth marketplace in the region.

According to the report, India has the second fastest growing population of High Networth Individual (HNIs) in the Asia-Pacific Region. The Asia-Pacific HNIs are those with more than $1 million in financial holdings, excluding their primary residence.

The report tracks the behaviour of HNIs in nine markets in Asia-Pacific, namely Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan.

The report states that the number of HNIs in India at the end of 2006 grew by 20.5 per cent to 1,00,000.
