Management States - Tamil Nadu ‘Keep the big picture in mind’ Our Bureau Coimbatore, Oct. 18 The Head of IT Infrastructure Services, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Mr S. Balasubramanian, delivered a thought-provoking lecture on achieving organisational goals vis-À-vis individual goal. Delivering the BL Club inaugural address at the KCT Business School here, he said “achieving goals in an organisation is a slightly different ball game. While alignment of goals is the first step towards success in an organisation, the individual’s goal could be different. It could be for monetary benefits, for gaining control over people, for learning; depends on the individual’s objective.” “Opportunities though are aplenty. Develop the initiative, identify the opportunity and review your performance from time to time,” he continued and called upon management students to keep a ‘big picture’ in mind and leverage on the value of their education. “If you have a goal, there is no need to re-invent the wheel. Planning would be much easier with the available information and the process management and planning tools would aid the planning process,” he said. According to him, a customised communication plan would help spot issues quickly, help in better time management and inspire people to work. “But organisations do not believe in cowboys. If you are successful in a particular initiative, convert it into a process and document it. Highlight the positives of the process,” he said and stressed the need for advertising the success before moving on to the next opportunity. More Stories on : Management | Tamil Nadu
