Brands GFA bullish on Donut Baker Sravanthi Challapalli Chennai, Oct. 19 Global Franchise Architects (GFA), owner of restaurant brands such as Pizza Corner and Coffee World, is quite bullish on the launch of Donut Baker, another of its brands, in India. Speaking to Business Line, Mr Fred Mouawad, Chairman, GFA, said the price points stretched from Rs 9 to Rs 29 for 47 varieties of doughnuts. This was a first for a country that was used only to sugar or chocolate doughnuts, he said, adding that the range and prices were good reasons for his optimism. The first outlet opened in Bangalore this week. Four more Donut Baker outlets will open over the next month; over the next year, 20 will be set up, all in Bangalore, Mr Mouawad said, adding that the brand will expand to other cities after one year. The expansion will depend on the locations the company is able to secure. GFA is looking at a mixture of high-street and mall locations. The first 20 outlets will be owned by the company, he added. GFA will also launch Cream & Fudge Factory, its ice-cream brand, in India next month. The first outlet is coming up in Bangalore’s Koramangala. The offering is premium as each ice-cream can be customised, and there will be fewer outlets of this brand, Mr Mouawad said. Prices are still being worked out but may settle at Rs 60-80. The company is planning to add another 15 Pizza Corner outlets in the country. It has 57 now, and the new ones will be added in cities and towns where the brand is already present. GFA, which also has the New York Deli and Golden Pretzel brands in its kitty, is launching Juiceomania, a smoothies-and-yoghurt restaurant chain, in Thailand next month. It’s also launching Stonefire Pizza Kitchen, for gourmet pizzas, in Dubai in two weeks. More Stories on : Brands | Foods & Food Processing
