The mobile is the new battleground for search engines, with Yahoo India’s launch of OneSearch SMS.

In SMS-based search, a text message with the query is sent to a shortcode – such as 54664 for Google SMS Search or 58242 for Yahoo’s OneSearch SMS. The search results will arrive at the mobile’s inbox in the form of an SMS. It does not require a computer or an Internet-enabled (GPRS) phone.

The firm will also enhance its WAP product by introducing new content clusters including local business listings and flight status information.
