Aims to more than double system integration biz revenue

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Oct. 22 Buoyed by new system integration projects, HCL Infosystems on Monday posted 7.5 per cent rise in consolidated net profit for the first quarter at Rs 72.13 crore.

“Implementation of large contracts like the BSNL contract (for commissioning of an end-to-end CDR-based customer care and convergent billing system), started last quarter and is on track. We expect the project to be completed in the next 6-12 months. The other BSNL-Air Force system integration project is running well and we expect to complete it around January to March timeframe,” Mr Ajai Chowdhry, Chairman and CEO of HCL Infosystems, said at a conference.

Overall, HCL Infosystems — which is into hardware, system integration and ICT distribution — expects to more than double the revenue from System Integration (SI) business in the current fiscal. It sees the SI revenue at about Rs 500-600 crore during the current financial year.

Revenue growth

The company’s consolidated revenue of Rs 3,130.4 crore during the quarter ended September 2007, represented 11 per cent growth year-on-year. Segment-wise, the net revenue from computer systems and other related products was up 38.4 per cent to Rs 725.91 crore, while the telecommunication and office automation revenue — which accounts for bulk of HCL’s overall revenue — rose 4.9 per cent year-on-year to Rs 2,365.74 crore.

“There is a strong growth in computing business in both topline and bottomline as a result of full impact of our new strategy on System Integration. This has helped us achieve the highest ever year-on-year growth in the last 10-12 quarters, in this business,” he said.

HCL Infosystems would also increase the number of its retail stores to 100 in the next 6-12 months from the existing 40.

Interim dividend

The board of directors of the company has also approved a quarterly interim dividend of Rs two per share (100 per cent on an equity share of par value of Rs 2 each), the company added. HCL Infosystems’ share on the BSE was down 3.62 per cent at Rs 221.
