Strategy Corporate - Alliances & Joint Ventures Royal Palms in marketing tie-up with Great Hotels S. Shanker Mumbai, Oct. 22 Hospitality player Royal Palms has entered into a co-branding and marketing tie-up with Great Hotels of the World for its 116-villa luxury hotel coming up at Goregaon here. The Palms, slated for opening this month, is the second in the country to be a part of the Great Hotels chain after Taj Exotica, Goa, according to the Palms management. Great Hotels is the flagship brand of Great Hotels Organisation, a global hotel sales and marketing chain that provides products, services and innovative technology solutions to hotel managements. It offers marketing alliances through the Great Hotels and Special Hotels of the World, which has 260 top-end hotels and resorts in its chain. The Palms comprises 116 super luxury villas and the hotel intends to offer its facilities such as theme restaurants, spa and lounge only to guests. This is the second hotel in the Royal Palms Group, which had been built at a cost of about Rs 175 crore. The first hotel — a 237-room five-star also in Goregaon — Mumbai has a tie-up with Park Plaza of the Carlson Group. “The Park Plaza Royal Palms has generated revenues of Rs 130 crore in two years. From The Palms also we are expecting revenues of upwards of Rs 75 crore in the first year,” said Mr Dilawar Nensey, Joint Managing Director, Royal Palms. In addition to marketing and branding programmes, Great Hotels also helps in bookings for its chain. “We have taken the alliance under the golf segment as we have an 18-hole golf course adjacent to The Palms on our 240 acre estate. Thanks to the tie-up, The Palms will be bracketed in the super luxury range and the rooms will be priced at Rs 20,000 per day and above,” he said. Royal Palms is also constructing two more hotels — a 438-room and a 250-room 5-star hotel also at Goregaon. The company has planned an investment of Rs 1,000 crore by 2010.
