GTZ signs pact to aid pharma SMEs

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Oct. 22

Continuing its focus on supporting ‘Pharma clusters’ in India, GTZ, the German Technical Cooperation, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Manufacturers Association (DPMA) here.

The emphasis would be on helping Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the pharma sector, who require various interventions to stay in competition and grow.

The GTZ has its own division to cater to the SME sector. Through this MoU, the division and the DPMA would work together to extend the services for the pharma cluster in Hyderabad.

Recently, the GTZ and the State Bank of Hyderabad signed an agreement to extend financial support to the SMEs in the pharma cluster in Hyderabad.

At the national level the GTZ is already working with the partner bank SBI and a pool of financial advisers to enhance access to finance for the different drug units in the value chain.

It is also working with the Bulk Drug Manufacturers Association (BDMA).

The MoU was signed by Mr Kjell Olsen, Principal Advisor, GTZ , and Mr A.Venkata Reddy, Chairman, DPMA.
