L&T begins work on Mumbai IT centre

Mumbai, Oct. 22 Engineering and construction company Larsen and Toubro began construction work on its 5,000-seat software development centre in Mumbai.

The proposed 8-storeyed twin towers project will be completed in about 18 months.

“This proposed L&T Technology Centre-II signifies the long-term aggressive growth that L&T Infotech is poised to achieve. We are rapidly building facilities like this to take advantage of upcoming opportunities, ” Mr. A. M. Naik, Chairman & Managing Director, L&T, and Chairman, L&T Infotech, said on the occasion of the ‘bhoomi poojan’.

The L&T Technology Centre-II will be a twin- tower structure with two basements (2,52,000 square feet), ground floor, eight upper floors and two additional floors for future expansion and a terrace with helipads. The floor plate of the structure will be 29,000 sq.ft each while the total office built-up area will be 5,39,000 square feet. It will have, among other things, a data centre for the total campus and a recruitment & training centre.

The architect for the project is Raja Aederi Consultants, Mumbai, while L&T’s ECC Division is the construction contractor.
