Our Correspondent Madurai, Oct 23 The first State Bank of India (SBI) ATM in an airport in Tamil Nadu was inaugurated at the Madurai Airport on Tuesday by Mr M.Suresh, Airport Controller, Airport Authority of India, Madurai Airport.This is also the 100th ATM of State Bank of India in Madurai. Speaking on the occasion, Mr N. Sadasivam, Deputy General Manager, SBI-Zonal Office, Madurai said that 506 ATMs have been installed in the State so far. In association with the Southern Railway, ATMs have also been installed in five railway stations in Madurai. SBI has plans to install 36 more ATMs in the Chennai Circle. The circle stands first in the service through ATMs. In the Madurai module, 5.73 lakh ATM cards have been issued and among them, 4.39 lakh cards are in active use, he said. An ATM is planned in areas where account holders exceed 4,000. The limit of withdrawal has been increased to Rs 25,000 per day. There are currently 7,750 ATMs of the bank across the country.
