Footwear makers in Chennai, Italy clusters sign pact

Chennai, Oct 23 Footwear manufacturers in the Chennai cluster and the Marche region of Italy have signed a co-operation agreement to support micro, small and medium enterprises in the footwear industry here.

The agreement was signed between the Indian Shoe Federation representing the footwear manufacturers in northern part of Tamil Nadu and the Unioncamera Marche, an industry body of the Marche region that helps the industries in the region to explore international market opportunities.

Co-operation deal

The co-operation agreement provides for creating institutionalised and long-term relations between Italian and Indian shoe manufacturers in these clusters with focus on dissemination of the Marche Regional cluster model in the Chennai footwear cluster, transfer of skills and expertise from the Italian footwear industry and the assistance for the shoe federation’s technology upgrading.
