Our Bureau

Chennai, Oct 24 The Southern India Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SICCI) is organising a two-day seminar and exhibition on information security — semi iSec 2007.

Scheduled for October 26 & 27, iSec – 2007 will focus on market trends, issues and challenges of the security market.

It will also help the Government in formulating stringent legal frameworks, to deal with data protection and intellectual property rights.

The objective of the seminar is to catalyse the growth of the IT industry and evolve synergy with other industries by leveraging the information technology to improve the product and its productivity, said Mr Ar Rm Arun, Chairman of the technology committee of SICCI and Vice-Chairman of SPEL Semiconductor Ltd.

India being the second fastest growing IT security market in the Asia-Pacific region, and Indian enterprises in the process of reinforcing their network security architecture, iSec 2007 is primarily aimed at creating awareness on protecting sensitive information from unauthorized disclosure or intelligible interception, said Mr Arun.

According to him, SICCI will recommend information security policy to the Government of Tamil Nadu and will release a handbook on the subject.

The event is supported by Elcot and the State Government.

Anna University is the institutional partner and Cherrytec Solutions Ltd the co-host. Sponsors for iSec 2007 include Checkpoint, Microsoft, HP, Covansys, Nokia and Fortinet.

SICCI expects about 50 domestic and international companies to showcase their products in the exhibition.
