‘HR professionals must have international outlook’

Our Bureau

Chennai, Oct 25 Developing human resources further, using technology to meet the demands of traditional HR functions without losing the personal touch that is absolutely necessary is the challenge ahead of HR professionals now, said Mr Sreeram Iyer, CEO of Scope International.

Delivering his inaugural address at the National Management Symposium, Insight’07, organised here by Loyola Institute of Business Administration, he said, the cross border M&A deals that are happening across the globe pose bigger challenges on this front. Pointing to the fact that most acquisitions fail because of lack of cultural integration, he urged HR professionals to be international in outlook, to partner with CEOs and play a role in building leadership.

Talking about organisational structure, he said in India people are still very hierarchy-conscious, whereas in the West, the organisational hierarchy is diminishing significantly.

In the transformational era, migration of products and services, talent, capital and business process are the four pillars of changing time, pointed out Mr K. Pandia Rajan, Managing Director and CEO of Ma Foi Management Consultants.

HR must bring in spirituality and peace of mind to the organisation and to its workforce, said Dr S. S. Badrinath, Chairman Emeritus, Sankara Nethralaya.
