National seminar on GIS
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct. 25
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
(IEEE) is organising a national seminar on
geographic information systems (GIS), titled IEEE
Globe-2007, on Friday and Saturday. The seminar will be
held at the Institution of Engineers Hall in the city, an
IEEE spokesman announced here on Thursday. GIS has
been witnessing a revolution of sorts with the emergence
of geospatial data on the Web (for instance the Google
Maps) and advances made in many complimentary
technologies. Among those attending are Mr Diwakar
Parsi, Head, Regional Remote Sensing Service Centre,
Indian Space Research Organisation, Bangalore; Mr
Ujjaval Gandhi, Senior GIS Specialist, Google, and
experts from corporates such as Microsoft, TCS. - Our Bureau
