Paper, Board & Newsprint TNPL net jumps 43% Our Bureau Chennai, Oct. 27 Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd has reported a 43 per cent jump in net profit for the second quarter ended September 30, 2007. This is TNPL’s best performance in any quarter. The company has announced an interim dividend of Rs 2 (20 per cent) a share of Rs 10 for 2007-08. According to a press release from the company, higher production, improved realisation and cost savings have contributed to the jump in net profit. Production was 63,499 tonnes against 59,644 tonnes in the corresponding period in the previous year. The company expects to complete the Mill Development Plan by December. This will result in the in-house pulp capacity going up to 800 tonnes a day from the present 500 tonnes. Paper production capacity would increase to 2.45 lakh tonnes a year from 2.3 lakh tonnes now. Captive power generation capacity would increase to 81.12 MW from 61.12 MW. The benefits of this growth would start accruing from the beginning of the fourth quarter.
