Uncertainty over tax holiday

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Oct. 29

The uncertainty over the extension of tax holiday under Section 10A and 10B of the Income Tax Act beyond 2009 has impacted the registrations of new companies at Software Technology Parks of India (STPI).

“There is a slackening in registrations of new companies because of the uncertainty, but I wouldn’t say there is any crisis,” said Mr E.K. Bharat Bhushan, Director General, STPI, speaking to Business Line on the sidelines of BangaloreIT.in 2007.

The tax-holiday scheme comes to an end in March 2009 and the Indian IT industry has been vociferously demanding the continuation of the scheme.
